You can follow the steps below, and for a detailed visual walkthrough of the upgrade process, you can watch the video, where the upgrade process is demonstrated using the <strong>nRF Connect<\/strong> app.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"PATpad - Firware Upgrade\" width=\"525\" height=\"295\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/qc465tFoZ8s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Step 1: Download and Install the Required Files<\/h2>\n<p>1. Download the <strong>PATpad firmware upgrade package<\/strong> from the following link: <a href=\"https:\/\/1drv.ms\/f\/c\/0a9a0b6df5572a14\/QhQqV_VtC5oggAoSBgAAAAAAjskCPZNHiO393g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DFU Target<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>2. Save the file to a common location on your phone\u2014<strong>in most cases, this will be the &#8220;Downloads&#8221; folder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>3. Open the <strong>Google Play Store<\/strong> on your Android phone.<\/p>\n<p>4. Download the application from the following link: <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=no.nordicsemi.android.mcp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nRF Connect App<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>5. Install the application on your device.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 2: Configure Application Settings<\/h2>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have <strong>Physical Layer (PHY)<\/strong> and <strong>Compatibility mode<\/strong> settings available, you can skip this step and continue with <strong>Step 3: Prepare the PATpad Device<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>6. Open the <strong>nRF Connect<\/strong> application.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/run_app.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>7. Tap the <strong>menu icon<\/strong> in the top-left corner.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/menu.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>8. Select <strong>Settings<\/strong> \u2192 <strong>Scanner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/settings.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/scanner.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>9. Set <strong>Physical Layer (PHY)<\/strong> to <strong>LE 1M (Legacy)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/phy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/phy_le_1m.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>10. Enable <strong>Compatibility mode<\/strong> by toggling the switch.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/compatibility.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>11. Return to the main screen by tapping the <strong>back button<\/strong> in the top-left corner <strong>twice<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 3: Prepare the PATpad Device<\/h2>\n<p>12. <strong>Please make sure that the battery on the PATpad device is charged to at least 30% before continuing.<\/strong> Otherwise, the firmware upgrade will not start.<\/p>\n<p>13. <strong>Turn on the PATpad.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/patpadeu.files.wordpress.com\/2020\/09\/patpad_2-1.jpg\" alt=\"patpad_2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>14. If any other device is currently connected to the PATpad, <strong>disconnect it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>15. If the PATpad is connected to a display, <strong>turn off the display<\/strong> to automatically disconnect it from the PATpad.<\/p>\n<p>16. Once no devices are connected to the PATpad, <strong>reset the PATpad<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Press the <strong>white dot<\/strong> in the center and <strong>hold it firmly<\/strong> for <strong>10 seconds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 4: Firmware Upgrade Using the nRF Connect Application<\/h2>\n<p>17. Open the <strong>nRF Connect<\/strong> application if it hasn&#8217;t been done already and tap the <strong>SCANNER<\/strong> tab.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/scanner_tab.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>18. Tap the <strong>three dots<\/strong> in the top-right corner to open the additional menu.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/menu_dots.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>19. From the menu, select <strong>Refresh<\/strong> to refresh the list of devices. This will start scanning for available BLE devices.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/refresh.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>20. If the scanning doesn&#8217;t start automatically, click <strong>SCAN<\/strong> to initiate the scan.<\/p>\n<p>21. The list of all available <strong>BLE devices<\/strong> will appear. If the correct PATpad device is not listed, check if the PATpad is turned ON by pressing the <strong>center white dot<\/strong> for a short press.<\/p>\n<p>22. Find the appropriate <strong>PATpad device<\/strong> with the correct <strong>MAC address<\/strong> and click the <strong>Connect<\/strong> button.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/connect.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>23. The device, along with its name and MAC address, will open in a new tab.<\/p>\n<p>24. A new <strong>DFU icon<\/strong> will appear in the top-right corner. Click the <strong>DFU icon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/dfu.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>25. On your phone, select the <strong>previously downloaded firmware package<\/strong> for the upgrade.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/dfu_package.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>26. For the upgrade mode, leave <strong>&#8220;Test and Confirm&#8221;<\/strong> selected and click <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/dfu_mode.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>27. The upgrade process will begin, and the upgrade status will be displayed. <strong>If the upgrade process doesn&#8217;t start, it is likely that the PATpad settings were not correctly reset.<\/strong> Please go back to <strong>Step 3: Prepare the PATpad Device<\/strong> and continue from there.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/dfu_status.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>28. Once the firmware package is fully transferred, the content will be validated. During this time, you will see the status <strong>Validating&#8230;<\/strong> which can take from 30 seconds to 1 minute.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/dfu_validating.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>29. The upgrade process will finish with a message: <strong>Application has been sent successfully.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/dfu_success.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>30. Disconnect from the PATpad by tapping <strong>Disconnect<\/strong> in the top-right corner.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/disconnect_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p>31. Close the PATpad tab by tapping <strong>X<\/strong> and then exit the application.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/patpad.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/disconnect_2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"169\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">32. The firmware upgrade has been successfully completed, and you can now begin using your PATpad device.
